Imagine waking up in your dream house, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. The Settings is a tranquil and peaceful retreat that’s still close to everything you need.

The Settings of Black Mountain has some outstanding features not found in many North Carolina mountain communities.

First, and foremost, is its location along the southern end of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. The Town of Black Mountain is a short 5 minute drive away. A 20 minute drive from the entrance and residents can be in downtown Asheville.

Within the community, residents enjoy a wide variety of activities together. Monthly throughout the year, neighbors come together at the clubhouse – drinks on the porch in the summer, potluck dinners in the winter. There’s an engaged book club as well as a Ladies of the Settings informal social group that visits local attractions.

In the fall there’s a casual gathering to celebrate the season and the annual meeting is in the spring. And there’s a lot of social life just walking around the neighborhood and on the trails. Several committees offer residents a chance to volunteer and come together to work on community projects.

Spend the day in Black Mountain, Downtown Asheville, or take a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

You’ll find many excellent restaurants, art galleries, music venues,  craft breweries, and unique shops to experience in both Black Mountain and Downtown Asheville nearby. Not to mention the outdoor adventures to explore!

Walk out your front door and take a walk in the woods.

There are several nature trails on the property that take you by meandering creeks and beautiful forests. The Upper Trail overlooks the Eastern Continental Divide, and connects to the Rim Trail, in the Swannanoa Mountain Range. Graybeard Mountain, Mt. Mitchell State Park, and many other hiking trails through the Blue Ridge Mountains are all close by for a day hike.

From Our Residents

“If you have a vision of the North Carolina mountains in your mind with mountains, sunrise, sunset, fog and mist, layers of clouds, it’s right here at your front door.

The residents are friendly and active.  They enjoy sharing the experience of living in this very special community.

We wake up every morning and after almost 10 years, we still can’t believe we’re living here!”

“It was serendipity that brought us to The Settings. Client appointments in Asheville lead to a random drive that resulted in our finding this community. That was 10 years ago and our criteria of having a nearby accredited health care facility, a tranquil setting and mountain views, easy proximity to everything you could possibly need, and a warm sense of community hasn’t changed over time. And in our opinion, nothing meets these criteria better than The Settings.”
